Why do we love this whisky?

Crafted by the revered independent bottler Adelphi, The Brisbane is a thoughtful fusion of time, place, and philosophy. Bringing together malts from Scotland’s storied Glen Garioch and Glen Grant distilleries, and harmoniously marrying them with malt from Australia’s most-awarded whisky producer, Starward, Adelphi has built a bridge between hemispheres. Bottled at 57.7% and left entirely unaltered, this draw of just 932 bottles ensures it is not just a conversation piece, but a collector’s quiet triumph.

Frequently Asked Questions

This unique blend marries Scottish single malts from the renowned Glen Garioch and Glen Grant distilleries with Australian malt whisky from Starward, Australia's most-awarded whisky producer. This cross-hemisphere approach creates a distinctive flavour profile that showcases the best of both whisky-making traditions, with Scottish heritage meeting Australian innovation in a single bottle.

The 57.7% ABV represents cask strength bottling, meaning the whisky hasn't been diluted from its natural maturation strength. This preserves the full intensity and complexity of flavours that developed during the 5-year maturation process. Cask strength whiskies offer enthusiasts the option to add water to their preferred drinking strength while maintaining maximum flavour concentration.

With only 932 bottles produced, this is an extremely limited release that represents exceptional rarity in the whisky world. Independent bottlers like Adelphi often produce small batches from carefully selected casks, making each release unique and unrepeatable. This scarcity, combined with the innovative Scottish-Australian fusion concept, makes it highly sought after by collectors and whisky enthusiasts.

The combination of honey, nutty, and dried apricot flavours suggests a beautifully balanced whisky with natural sweetness complemented by rich, textural elements. The honey likely comes from the Scottish malts' traditional maturation, while the nutty characteristics could reflect both the Australian wine barrel influences from Starward and the Scottish distilleries' signature profiles. The dried apricot adds a sophisticated fruity complexity that bridges the gap between the two whisky-making styles.

This indicates the whisky is non-chill filtered and contains no artificial colouring or additives, preserving its natural character exactly as it emerged from the cask. Many commercial whiskies undergo chill filtration to prevent cloudiness and have caramel colouring added for consistency, but this approach can strip away flavour compounds and oils that contribute to mouthfeel and complexity. The unaltered approach ensures you're experiencing the whisky in its purest form.
