Why do we love this brandy?

St Agnes has been crafting incredible grape spirit for 100 years, and it shows. Being fortunate enough to try this 30 year release in Mofo HQ earlier this year, we can confirm that it rivals the very best from Cognac and Armagnac. Rich fruit cake and raisin notes are enveloped by caramelised, honeyed almonds and spices. This is an absolute joy to drink, and a wonderful addition to any collector's cellar.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 30-year maturation process allows the grape spirits to develop extraordinary complexity and refinement that rivals the finest Cognac and Armagnac houses. Extended barrel ageing creates deep integration of flavours while mellowing harsh alcohols, resulting in a sophisticated spirit with layers of dried fruit, nuts, and spices. St Agnes' century of expertise in grape spirit production ensures traditional techniques are employed to achieve this world-class standard.

This exceptional brandy is best enjoyed neat in a snifter at room temperature to fully appreciate its complex aromatics and flavours. The warmth of your hand will gently release the concentrated fruit cake, raisin, and honeyed almond notes developed over three decades. Consider pairing with dark chocolate, aged cheese, or cigars for a luxurious tasting experience that complements the brandy's rich, caramelised character.

James Halliday's 97-point score places this brandy in the 'outstanding' category, representing exceptional quality that few spirits achieve. Halliday, Australia's most respected wine critic, rarely awards scores above 95 points, making this rating particularly significant. This score reflects the brandy's perfect balance, complexity, and craftsmanship, positioning it among Australia's finest aged spirits and validating its comparison to world-class French brandies.

Absolutely - this Centenary Reserve represents both St Agnes' 100-year milestone and exceptional 30-year maturation, making it highly collectible. Limited production aged brandies from established Australian producers typically appreciate in value, especially those with prestigious ratings like this 97-point Halliday score. The combination of rarity, provenance, and outstanding quality makes it an excellent addition to any serious spirits collection or investment portfolio.

The three-decade maturation creates a luxuriously complex flavour journey beginning with rich fruit cake and raisin sweetness, followed by caramelised honey and roasted almonds. The extended oak contact contributes warming spices and vanilla undertones, while the concentrated grape character provides elegant fruit depth. These flavours integrate seamlessly due to the lengthy ageing process, creating a harmonious and sophisticated drinking experience that evolves beautifully in the glass.
